Dear Diary
The end of another weekend. Got a good couple of hours sleep, managed to do most of my shopping for Line's baby shower next saturday, hung out with Cee and took her for her first trip to COSTCO (introduced her to yummy yummy hotdogs!!!), had a lovely lunch and catch up with Line and Motu and Winnie today (stuffed to within an inch of my life!), was a good chance to talk about the baby shower, the part time work and a potential Sept trip to Samoa! Came home to take a very rare sunday afternoon nap - ruined only by my sister-in-law's screaming for my nephew to come and look at pictures on facebook IN MY ROOM!!!! Not cool, but wasn't mad cause i was mellowed out by the weekend i'd had. Biggest accomplishment this week - Finally started documenting our family and got 198 members of my family down onto it! Not an easy task, but most definitely an enjoyable and enlightening one!
Plans going well and all almost in place, am scared i may run out of money before i can get everything i need for the baby shower but for the most part i'm happy with all the planning and listing i've done, the arrangements are all in place, over the week B and i will finish off the little remaining items needed for the baby shower decorations and start making them, then Friday M and i will do meat and veg shop, all meet over at M's place for decorating and food prep and event on Saturday! Followed by drinks... always followed by drinks.....
Which reminds me - Cee and i found a 1.7litre bottle of pre-mixed Margarita mix at Costco on sat.. am abosolutely going back for a bottle!
Looking forward to work this week... another chance to prove my worth and earn the bucks! Looking forward to continuing the family tree re-search, though i fee a road/mental block coming soon... and most definitely looking forward to the BABY SHOWER!!!!! Yay!

The Family Tree
Last night i finally got my act together and started working on our family tree with my mum. I've been meaning to start it for some time now but, well, for whatever reason just haven't really got arount to it, and yet as we begin i'm really struck by just how important a task this is. I also begin to come to terms with just what a mammoth task this task may turn out to be! Still, it is a good opportunity for me to spend some quality time with my moms!- without her, the task would be close to impossible!
Our family tree is not "simple" to say the least. two pages into granma's siblings children's names and the many branches of family and extended family begin boggle the mind. But i love that as we complete each branch i begin to understand (maybe finally for the first time) the special ties between us, my mother especially and those people whom we call family - you know the ones, you see them at all the family functions, they are always there when your immediate family have a wedding or funeral and you know that they are related to you but you don't quite know how... well i hope after this exercise, i will finally understand it.
Ofcourse, there are branches that are still a bit vague for mum.. i will definitely have to refer to other family members to help fill in the blanks!!!
So my dilemma now becomes - how on earth do i begin to document it? Time to hit google!

Starting the new year right...
I think that it's important to start the year with thanks. To reflect on the journey so far and to prepare for the journey ahead and most importantly to live and love and share each moment along the way.
THANKYOU - By The Katinas
Just a little while longer I wanna pray
Can't get You off my mind so I came to say
Thank You Lord, just for loving me, alright
Many times I do forget
Every need that You have met
Oh thank You Lord, I know You're showing me
You are there when I am down and out
You're holding me, Your love is so amazing
Oh it changed me
Here I am with all I have
Raise my hands to worship You
I wanna say thank you, oh thank you
For everything, for who You are
You cover me, You touch my heart
I wanna say thank you
I could have died in my sin but You saved me
Didn't have any hope at all
You gave me peace divine, strength to carry on
I should have been the one to pay
But instead You took my place
Amazing grace, it's more than just a song
Even though I don't deserve Your love for me
You look beyond my fault and You showed me mercy
Here I am with all I have
Raise my hands to worship You
I wanna say thank you, oh thank you
For everything, for who You are
You cover me, You touch my heart
I wanna say thank you
I wanna say thank you for the sun
Lord we thank you for the rain
Thank you for the love You gave

At home sick today.... and for some reason found myself back here... wow... looks like i'm averaging 1 post per year now...disappointing to say the least.... obviously i have no talent for blogging.
I read in a friend's blog once that we are never going to remember everything that happens to us each year so we should make an effort to write it down, just a few short sentences each day to help us records those important memories of our lifes travels...
Well... considering how dismal this experiment into blogging has been going so far... i think a few short sentences each day.... is a good place to start!
Dinner with my two closest mates tonight. So looking forward to it. Need wine! hehehe

The Travel Bug
After years of being quite content to stay within Sydney walls, happy in my role as a 'typical home body' travelling between work, family, study, church and social committments all inside Australia...... early last year I was finally bitten by the travel bug! My mind constantly swirls theses day with plans of trecking here and there, to and fro across the continents....hehehe... but as they say "money talks"..... well....let's just take it in little steps.....
Last year in April i took off to Fiji with some mates for a ten day getaway! It was fantastic! It also fuelled the flames and the desire to have more! More trips, More time away, more destinations....just more more more!!! Now it may take me more than 80 days, i guess ........ it won't happen overnight, but it will happen?!
This week am off to Fiji again (different set of mates this time).... even though its a repeat location....gee its good to be getting out of Sydney for a while....putting some distance between me and work and family and 'reality'........

Music as "Food for the Soul"! (Part 2)
As i stated in my first blog on this topic, after the inspiring experience that was my first guitar lesson, i went home with a determination and motivation (all the átions' if you will......) to continue practicing the basic chords that i had learnt.
Let me put this into more of a situational context for you.......... I am NOT nor have i ever really been very musically talented in any way.... not in the least! Listening to music (though my taste in music is fairly eclectic....) is pretty much the extent of my experience to date..... well except for a few organ lessons when i was about 6 or 7...but believe you me....there was nothing retained from that episode..ha! Thus, i cannot read music, guitar tableture or chords... *standing at the bottom of a hill..looking up*!
So picure if you will... me at home trying to practice chords on a guitar that is not tuned because i don't know how to tune it, nor have i invested in that tool so handy to all new guitarists.... known as "a tuner". However, little trivial details like that cannot keep down the optimistic dreamer such as myself...... so for two evenings now i have been practicing how to play the right notes, how to strum without a pick and finger picking and making what i thought was a halfway decent attempt at tuning my acoustic by ear.....ha!
Last night i snapped the string (the B string to be exact as my teacher informs me..)! There will be a slight intermission here while we wait for the necessary funds to buy new string, AND A TUNER!
Meanwhile......my household, the surrounding neighbours and every dog withing a 5mile radius....... is thanking their lucky stars.
Well........ i'm no Gypsy King!

Music Thread # 1
From time to time i find a song that i really really dig! You know...the ones that are on repeat from sunrise to sunset, you know the words by heart, you've seen the music videos.....etc etc...
These become part of what i think of as the soundtrack for my life..... so....i occassionally i will post lyrics for music that i love....when i can get my act together i am hoping to put in a music player.... but i'm not very "net wise" or "blog wise" just yet so it will have to wait.
So here's the first one.......
PS. The lyrics are in Japanese (no, i'm not Japanese... which will also explain if there are errors in the lyrics) but i understand what they mean ie. i've read the translation. I don't really related to the song's meaning, but i love the tune.

Music as "Food for the Soul"!
Yaaaayyyyyyy!
Had my very first guitar lesson today "woohoo".....my head is still swimming with chords and tableture, E minor, A Major etc etc, my fingers sting a little too BUT my heart is soaring! I loved it! Incidentally, we had the lesson in one of our meeting rooms at work and when we got in the lifts afterwards, we just happen to get in the lift that our company CEO was standing in. He saw the guitar which ofcourse prompted questions, comments, conversation and much laughter.....but the thing that i found most interesting.......his take on music.......quote "music is food for the soul" unquote........ hmmm..........am i out of touch that i've never heard that phrase before? I rethink my first guitar lesson experience and it occurs to me that the phrase rings true!
I have an acoustic guitar at home. Its been in my possession for at least a year now...untouched ofcourse. Acutally, its a keepsake. One of my cousins passed away two years ago......very musically talented and a wonderful person overall.....i will always count him as "one of the good guys".....the guitar is his that he left in my possession....for which i feel very blessed! This is what prompted my desire to learn to play. Can't wait to get home and practice!

My first B.L.O.G!!!!!!
WOW! Does this mean i am now an official "blogger"? Have i really joined the community of neitzens that is the current trend of these times?......hmmmm...... i am fairly impressed with myself at the moment........*pat on the back*......hehehe......! Ok, so each year, diary after diary after journal after diary etc etc etc....... i attempt to put my thoughts to paper, as a way to try an organise a chaotic and conflicted mind (and no i don't mean conflicted in a mentally twisted pyscho Dexter sort of way.....would i blog about that?!).....without much success or longevity! Its sad really! SO....this year i thought i would try something different......"Blogging"!
Hoi..............wish me luck!
BTW: i really don't consider myself a blogger just yet....i've been surfing the blog scenes out there and there are some very talented people with interesting, thought provoking things to say/suggest/pose to us.......and ofcourse, in comparison...this blog is sadly lacking! but hey, its my first blog......give it time...... *mwah*
